The Australian authorities detected the substance, in 20 packages wrapped in plastic, at a check at the airport / The 'mule’ is a 21-year-old who was flagrantly detained
A Swiss citizen appeared this Saturday (January 4, 2025) before the Melbourne Magistrates Court accused of importing 25 kilos of cocaine to Australia hidden in his luggage. The discovery comes shortly after the fall of two other foreign ‘mules’, in that case of Hungarian nationality, who were transporting heroin in their bodies.
Australian Border Force (ABF) officers detected the illicit drugs on Friday after selecting the man, 21, for a baggage screening when he arrived at Melbourne Airport on a flight from Los Angeles in the United States.
Officials found packages of a white substance hidden in 20 black plastic packages in the man's suitcase and alerted AFP.
Initial tests for the substance returned a positive result for cocaine. This amount of cocaine could have been sold in almost 125,000 street transactions with an estimated value of $8 million.
