Agitator Ensure uniform reaction
Thermometer and pressure gauge Temperature and pressure monitoring
Density meter to detect the concentration of methylamine solution
Weigh 7,245 g of ammonium formate and cool the distilled water to room temperature for use. Add ammonium formate to the reactor and gradually heat to 180-200°C to maintain a constant temperature. Note: Too high a temperature will cause side reactions, and too low a temperature will result in incomplete reaction. Stirring reaction: Turn on the stirring device to ensure uniform reaction. The reaction will generate methylamine gas, carbon dioxide and water vapor. The methylamine gas is cooled by the condenser and then introduced into the water absorption tower. Control the water absorption volume to 5.3 L, maintain full contact, dissolve methylamine in water, and form a 40% methylamine aqueous solution. Absorption time: about 1 hour, until no methylamine gas escapes. Cool the solution to room temperature. Concentration detection: Use a density meter
The density of 40% methylamine aqueous solution is about 0.89 g/mL. If the concentration does not meet the requirements, adjust the water volume to the target concentration.
