Question One pot metamfetamin

I crushed about 10 grams of ephedrine alkaloid and turned it into powder. I added approximately 15 grams of ammonium nitrate. Then, I added 500 ml of diethyl ether and treated the mixture. I also crushed a piece of lithium metal and added it. After that, I added 2 caps of pure water. There was no reaction. What could be the reason? Thank you for your attention.

you didn't have a base to release the ammonia from the ammonium nitrate. You need some sodium hydroxide to break that nitrate up into ammonia and nitrogen. Some of those amounts are insame and some are not listed in a meaningful manner. You need ton tune that recipe up a little I say

how much did you use and when did you add it though? Your description isn't aaccurate enough for us to analyze it

that was WWAAAYYY too much 50 grams? That ruined it for sure. That turned it into a hard ph14 and blew all the molecules apart

the nitrate ion weighs 67g/mole and the ammonia weighs 17. for a total of 84g/m. Sodium hydroxide is 40g/m. a ratio of 10/21. which basicaslly means for every 2 grams of ammonium nitrate you need 1 gram of NaOH (every 2..1g to be more precise) so 7 grams of lye would have been the good amount.n You probably used way too much lithium too. You can pull it off with twice the lithium you need but 3x the lithium will over-reduce your epedrine right past anything useful to garbage. The right about fo lithium to use is about 0.1grams. In hhe real world adding that water (which was way too much water) burns a lot of lithium off, so I think you hasve been alright at 0.3g of lithium wihich is 1/3 of a AA battery worth. 5oo ml of diethyl ether is major overkilll also
